Just a note: Meeting is Saturday morning. Rooms are available for posted rate from Thursday night through Sunday night for those that would like to stay longer.
KNIGHTS IN BIG BEND
SEPTEMBER 21 -- 27, 2026

I listed where I plan on making reservations for lodging. You are free to use one of those or find your own lodging.
Day 1: Sept 21st Ride to Del Rio
(TX 13, Rudy's BBQ, 2451 S Capital of Texas Hwy, Austin, TX 78746. For Houston or San Antonio chapters, I would assume they would pick their own way, just meeting in Del Rio in the evening of Sept 21st. It is about 4 hours, unless people hit 3 Sisters or something or long lunch somewhere... say 8:30A.M, KSU at 9:30A.M)
Day 2: Sept 22nd Del Rio – Ride W/B on 90.
Hit bridge over Pecos & Judge Roy Bean. Once in the park, ride up to Chisos Basin. Then ride to Terlingua area.
Day 3: Sept 23rd Overnight in Terlingua area
Day ride to far east side “Rio Grande Village”.
Day 4: Sept 24th Overnight in Terlingua area
– Day ride to west side of park - Cottonwood Camp area
Day 5: Sept 25th
Morning ride out Hwy 170, one of the top roads in TEXAS! First stop, Breakfast in Lajitas. Continue west on 170, next stop Fort Leaton State Historical Site. It cost a couple bucks to get in but it helps with the upkeep. Ride to Presidio, hit Hwy 67 to Fort Davis.
Day 6: Sept 26th
After breakfast, check out Fort Davis National Historic Park. After, ride on the McDonald Observatory loop. 118 – 166 back to Fort Davis.
**** In the evening you can go to the STAR PARTY at McDonald Observatory. RESERVATIONS MANDATORY! If you haven’t done one, it is very interesting. They have several telescopes set up to look through.
Day 7:
Sept 27th Option 1: Ride home.
Option 2: Is a grand adventure to Mexico. “Passports”
Ride from Fort Davis to Alpine for a quick Breakfast. Ride back through Big Bend to Boquillas Del Carmen, MEXICO. You pay the boat man 5 bucks for round trip. On the Mexico side, you will have the chance of riding a donkey into town or walking. It’s .65 of a mile. You will also, unbeknown to you, a “guide” will start walking with you. There are 2 restaurants in town. You can have a couple of tacos and a beer. Then we walk back. The guide you didn’t know you hired will want about 10 bucks. It is all in the adventure of the crossing, so don’t get upset.
After crossing back, we’ll ride to Fort Stockton, need reservations for one night Sept 27th/28th
OR you can head home.

Crossing Hours: The Boquillas Port of Entry operates on a limited schedule:

Summer (May - October): Open Friday to Monday, 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM.

Winter (November - April): Open Wednesday to Sunday, 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM.
